Junior Competition FAQ

How Do I Register?
You can register into your team via an easy online registration process through Touch Football Australia’s new system MySideline. The home page of our website has links to register a team and a player.
My Child Doesn't Have a team but would like to join a Team. How do we go about this?
Goulburn Touch will have a pinned post on our Facebook page.This post will allow you to advertise that you are looking for a team. Please state what age group and year of birth your child is when posting. Goulburn Touch cannot guarantee that every player will find a team for the season.
When Does The Junior Competition Start?
Our Junior Competition usually starts in the second week of Term 4. Check the Competition Information (under Local Competition) for specific dates.
Does My Child Need To Be In A Team To Register?
Yes you will require a team. Unfortunately we do not accept individual registrations as teams form and enter the competition independant of us. Players who don’t have a team can advertise for one on our Facebook page. There will be a pinned post where you can state what competition (e.g. Girls Under 10s) and the child’s birth year you are looking for. Teams looking for players can check this and contact you.
What Day Will My Child Play?
Our Junior Competition is played on a Tuesday night.​ The first games commence at 4:45pm.
How Long Does The Competition Run For?
Our Junior Competition usually runs for 15 weeks plus finals, and starts on the second Tuesday in Term 4. We play until school finishes in Term 4 and then break until school returns the following year. We do not play during the school holidays. Finals and Grand Finals are held in March.
What Time Will My Child Be Playing?
The draws are formulated randomly, and you will play at a range of different times throughout the competition. The time slots can vary from competition to competition depending on the number of teams, generally the first game will start at 5:00pm, with the last game starting at 7:40pm.​

Once the fixtures for your grade have been created you will be notified, this is usually in the week leading up to the start of the competition. These fixtures will then be available to view online using MySideline, accessed through our website.

What Divisions Are There?
Goulburn Touch runs the following divisions in the Junior Competition:

Under 8s (can be Boys/Girls or Mixed) – Born 2018/2019
Under 10s Girls and Boys – Born 2016/2017
Under 12s Girls and Boys – Born 2014/2015
Under 14s Girls and Boys – Born 2012/2013
Under 16s Girls and Boys – Born 2010/2011
Under 18s Mixed – Born 2008/2009

How Many Players Can Be In A Team?
For all U12s and older divisions, there is a minimum number of 9 players required to be registered in a team, with no maximum players limit.

For U8s and U10s, there is a minimum number of 8 players required to be registered in a team, with no maximum players limit.

Players on the field –

– For all divisions, there are 6 players allowed on the field at any one time, with 4 being the minimum number required to start a game.

What Is The Mini Merinos Program?
The Mini Merinos Program has been created to nurture our newest and youngest touch players, and assist to develop basic skills and learn the basic rules of touch football.
Does My Child Need To Wear A Uniform?
All players in our Junior Competitions must wear the reversible singlets. The singlet cost is seperate to the player registration costs, and can be purchased new from the website when registering, or our clubhouse on competition nights. Alternately, you can go to our second hand Buy/Sell/Swap Facebook page and see what you can grab.

The singlets must be worn when playing. In addition, fully enclosed footwear, such as joggers or football boots, must be worn. Shoes with studs or cleats are allowed, however, they must be moulded, no screw in metal studs or cleats.

On competition nights, the team listed first on the draw will wear the blue side, with the opposition wearing the maroon side.

Does My Child Already Need To Know How To Play?
No. There are always players and teams in every competition that are new to our sport.​ Goulburn Touch will be offering a “Come and Try” skill development day before the season commences.
